pk-china-user Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his greetings to teachers and educators nationwide ahead of Teachers’ Day, which is observed annually on Sept. 10.
In his congratulatory message, Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, urged teachers across the country to strengthen their professional skills and capabilities while nurturing a new generation of young people capable of taking on the mission of achieving national rejuvenation.
Xi praised teachers nationwide for their long-standing dedication to education, noting that they have devoted themselves to imparting knowledge and nurturing young minds, making significant contributions to the cause of the Party and the state.
He stressed the importance of upholding the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and developing high standards of professional ethics and conduct on the new journey.
Xi also called for greater respect for educators throughout society, stronger support for education, and the collective efforts needed to help China become a leading nation in education.
China has the world’s largest education system, with approximately 440,000 schools of various levels and types, 280 million students and 18.7 million teachers.
