The Chairman of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Lt. General Muhammad Saeed (Retd.), inaugurated the 132 kV Transmission Line Grid Station at the Dasu Hydropower Project on February 15, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the project’s power evacuation system.

The ceremony took place during the Chairman’s official visit to the project site, where he reviewed ongoing construction activities and evaluated overall progress. The newly completed grid station forms a vital part of the transmission infrastructure and is designed to ensure the efficient delivery of electricity from the Dasu project to the national grid.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman described the completion of the grid station as “an important step toward the timely operationalization of the project.” He emphasized that the development reflects WAPDA’s firm commitment to expediting work on critical infrastructure to guarantee a reliable and sustainable energy supply for the country.

The facility will play a key role in meeting construction power requirements while also reinforcing the broader transmission network linked to the project. Its completion signals steady progress on the essential infrastructure required for future electricity generation at Dasu.

Senior officials from WAPDA, project management teams, consultants, and representatives of China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC) attended the inauguration ceremony.

Located in Upper Kohistan district, the Dasu Hydropower Project stands among Pakistan’s most significant hydropower initiatives, aimed at enhancing national energy security through the generation of clean and renewable electricity.
