Pakistan’s National Highway Authority (NHA) has selected a Chinese-led joint venture as the highest-ranked bidder for a climate risk assessment consultancy related to the reconstruction of National Highway N-5, according to a final evaluation report issued by the authority.
The report stated that NAREE International Ltd. and Youdi Tiacheng Planning & Design, in collaboration with Systems Engineering Associate as a sub-consultant, achieved the top combined score and were declared the most advantageous bidder.
It added that Sino Carbon Innovation and Investment Co., partnering with Warm Waters Advisory Group and Jiangsu Eastrans Intelligent Control Technology Group, secured the second position in the evaluation.
The agreed consultancy fee has been set at 53,290,800 Pakistani rupees, inclusive of applicable taxes.
The consultancy assignment involves conducting a comprehensive climate risk assessment and proposing mitigation as well as adaptation measures for National Highway N-5 — a vital transport corridor that stretches from Karachi to Torkham, serving as one of the country’s most important road links.
