pk-china-user The Department of Education at the University of Gwadar (UoG) has approved the introduction of Chinese Language as an Arts and Humanities course in its Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programmes, marking a significant step towards equipping future teachers with skills suited to emerging regional and international opportunities.
The decision was taken during the 6th Board of Studies (BoS) meeting, held on Friday at the PCT&VI Conference Room under the chairpersonship of Dr. Rabia Aslam, according to a statement issued by UoG on Friday.
The addition of Chinese Language highlights the University’s commitment to expanding students’ academic perspectives while strengthening their linguistic and intercultural abilities. As Pakistan and China continue to enhance cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), proficiency in the Chinese language is increasingly considered a valuable skill for graduates pursuing opportunities in education, business, cultural exchange, and regional development.
In addition to Chinese Language, the Board also approved the introduction of Artificial Intelligence as an interdisciplinary course in the B.Ed. programmes. The initiative aims to equip future educators with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to the changing educational landscape.
During the meeting, members reviewed several academic and curricular matters aimed at improving the quality and relevance of teacher education. The Board approved professional certification requirements for B.Ed. students, policies concerning student rejoining after a semester freeze, mandatory internships for relevant programmes, and revisions to the syllabi of selected courses to ensure better alignment with contemporary educational and professional requirements
