pk-china-user China’s drive to digitize its manufacturing industry has moved into a phase of widespread implementation, with most major industrial enterprises now carrying out digital upgrades, according to a recent report.
The study, published by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, noted that digital transformation across the manufacturing sector has expanded significantly, indicating a transition toward large-scale application.
By December 2025, 89.6 percent of key industrial enterprises had completed digital retrofitting. Progress has been especially rapid in the automotive, shipbuilding and electronic information manufacturing industries, where digital upgrade rates reached 94.4 percent, 94.2 percent and 93.9 percent, respectively.
Jiao Beibei, an engineer at the academy, said digital transformation has become a crucial force in boosting efficiency, strengthening resilience and promoting environmentally friendly production.
The report recommends that China further speed up the integration of digital technologies by ensuring transformation initiatives align closely with enterprises’ operational requirements and the broader objectives of industrial upgrading. It also calls for enhanced support in areas such as standards development, infrastructure improvement and other foundational capacities.
