pk-china-user Pakistan’s Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI) and China’s Shaanxi Aerospace Breeding Engineering Technology Center signed a Commitment of Cooperation (CoC) on July 20 to enhance long-term collaboration in agricultural research, the development of climate-resilient crops, and advanced breeding technologies.
The agreement was signed during the official visit of Punjab Director General/Chief Scientist Agriculture (Research) Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman to China, where he held meetings with representatives of the Shaanxi International Technology Transfer and Innovation Cooperation Centre and the Shaanxi Aerospace Breeding Engineering Technology Center, according to AARI.
“The Commitment of Cooperation marks a significant milestone in strengthening scientific collaboration between Pakistan and China in agricultural research and innovation,” Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman said. “Through joint efforts in developing climate-resilient crop varieties, advancing breeding technologies, and promoting knowledge exchange, we can support sustainable agricultural development and enhance food security.”
The CoC provides a framework for cooperation in agricultural research, aerospace breeding technology, germplasm exchange, capacity building, technology transfer, and joint research initiatives.
During the meetings, both sides discussed broadening scientific collaboration through joint research and innovation while exploring ways to accelerate the adoption of modern agricultural technologies.
Chinese representatives also expressed their readiness to facilitate exchange visits for scientists, farmers, and agricultural enterprises from both countries to encourage knowledge sharing, collaborative projects, technology transfer, and agricultural trade.
“This cooperation reflects our shared commitment to advancing agricultural science through innovation and international partnership,” AARI said in a statement, adding that the agreement will further strengthen exchanges and support the implementation of joint initiatives that will benefit both Pakistan and China.
